My First "Haul"

My friend Brittany has really been encouraging me to do a haul of products. So, I attempted it! I went to Kmart this weekend while I was waiting to get my oil changed at the Sears Auto that was attached. By the way if you live in my area, avoid that place! This is the second time they have screwed something up with my truck. Anyway!

Left: NYC Cafe, Top: NYC Retro Red , Middle: Wet n Wild 519A , Right: NYC Sheer Red, Bottom: NYC 16 Hour Lip Stain in Endless Spice

Let me start off by saying, I am not make-up savvy so please bear with me!

I have read that there is the right shade of red for everyone when it comes to lipsticks. Well, I went into the make-up section and got the 3 kinds that I knew of: a bright cherry red, a rich darker red and a standard red. Well, yea. Unsuccessful attempt! I can't get into red shades on my thin lips. Anyway, here are the swatches!

I am also a sucker for a nude lippy especially with some shimmer, so I snatched NYC Cafe and it ended up being my favorite out of all the products I picked up! Overall, Cafe was the only one I liked and plan on putting in my purse for regular use. The 16 Hour Lipstain has a funny smell to it and wasn't as much of a brown shade as I had hoped.

Next, I picked up a Wet N Wild eye shadow trio called 'Spoiled Brat'. I happened to see the pink and automatically picked it up. I didn't realize until I got home that it was called Spoiled Brat and I laughed at the irony. I LOVE the pink color. It's a really bright, almost fuchsia pink when applied correctly and the brightest pink I have in my little collection.

What I didn't like was the crease color. I don't know if because it's a matte color that the application was hard or if it was because it was black, but I could not get a good swatch and even trying to create an eye look with it was a disaster. The sparkle in the black shade was next to non-existent on my swatch and on my eyes. Together the silver and pink look great, but I won't use the crease color. Here are the swatches:

I also picked up Maybelline's Eye Studio Color Tattoo cream eye shadow in Tenacious Teal. I really wanted Pomegranate Punk or Painted Purple, but of course they didn't have those colors!

Overall, I LOVED this eye shadow. It's so easy to apply and I love anything that sparkles! This is definitely good for those shower, blow dry, make-up, RUN kind of nights when you don't have time to put together an elaborate face or stick your eyelashes on.

Last, but not least, I bought foundation for the first time in probably 10 years. I've never been a foundation person. I like to stick to light powders because I don't like that icky, heavy, greasy feeling that foundations leave on my face. I got Revlon's Custom Creations 030. It's a pump that you can adjust the shade. I liked the concept of this because sometimes I forget to go tanning for a week and I am a bit on the pale side, so it is nice to not have that line on your face showing your body a different color than your face. The only problem I had is that I definitely went too light. The darkest shade still made me look pale. Overall, it's a pretty good product. I will probably only use it on big nights out because like I said, I don't like the feel of foundation.

Well, ladies and gents, I hope you enjoyed my first haul! I just wanted to let everyone know that I have my giveaway ready to go, but I still need 20 more followers until I will post it. It includes two new fitness items, since that is the reason I started my blog!

  1. YAY! Love that you included swatches too! I'm so proud, haha ;) I'm still on the hunt for the perfect red lip for me too. I really love WNW shadows, quality if superior for the price. I also have Tenacious Teal- love it! I have Painted Purple too. Of all the colors/shades it is the least pigmented. I mostly use it as a base for purple shadows- which I love.

Can't wait to see more hauls :)
